I will overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.
Briton Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" the American as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming boxing match.
Ex twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Fighter's Mindset
"I plan to break his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."
Respectful Exchange
Despite these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.
Paul instead targeted ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, targeted British rival Tyson Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.
Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
Still, the inexperienced fighter is still one of boxing's largest financial successes, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in round four or five and asserted he would stop the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.
"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Size Disparity
As Joshua and Paul met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how amazing it is that the fight is actually proceeding.
